  • ST. JOHNSVILLE — Mrs. Lucy Licari of St. Johnsville passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 22, 2014, at Bassett Hospital, Cooperstown. She was 91 and was blessed with her family at her side.
    She was born on Dec. 12, 1922, in Frankfort, the daughter of Carmello and Anna LoRe. Beloved wife of 53 years to Louis Licari, she was the devoted mother of her two sons, Sam (wife Anna) and Carmen (wife Rhonda), and sister of Mary Cross, Betty Tarnacki and Josie Palumbo. Lucy is the cherished grandmother of six grandchildren, Ryan (wife Cristina), Shea, Louis, Nicholas (wife Lynne), Tony, Andrew and Lindsey, and great-granddaughter, Avery. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Lucy and Louis founded and operated a local supermarket chain for 40-plus years, starting with Thriftway Supermarket in St. Johnsville. Lucy loved her family, friends, bingo, the church and horseracing thanks to the passion of her husband. She will be greatly missed.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 24, 2014, at 11:30 a.m. from the Enea Family Funeral Home, 9 Center St., St. Johnsville, where prayer will be offered, and at noon from St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, 32 W. Main St., St. Johnsville, where her funeral mass will be celebrated by Rev. Rafal Dadello. Interment will follow at the family plot in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Lucy’s name to the Catholic Charities of Fulton & Montgomery Counties. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home. Family and friends are invited to attend calling hours at the Enea Family Funeral Home on Center Street in St. Johnsville on Friday evening, May 23, from 5 until 8 p.m. An evening wake service will be offered by Father Dadello at 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
