  • PALATINE BRIDGE — Michael “Mikey” Gerhartz of Palatine Bridge passed away early Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at Albany Medical Center. He was 48.
    Born on May 23, 1965, in Little Falls, he was the son of David and Maggie Mayton Gerhartz. Mikey lived in Palatine Bridge and was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Stone Arabia. He attended and graduated from Canajoharie Central School and was employed for WW Custom Clad for 25 years.
    Mikey loved bird watching, playing Scrabble and Uno, doing puzzles, going for rides, investigating and putting together the family tree, making rubber band bracelets and was an avid fisherman. Mikey was an avid reader of abandoned houses, haunted houses and ghosts. He also enjoyed playing on his iPad, computer and watching TV.
    Survivors include his parents, Dave and Maggie Gerhartz; one sister, Michele Brand and her husband, Floyd, and their daughters, Heather and Jessie, of Gloversville; and one brother, Wayne Gerhartz and his wife, Amy, of Long Lake. He is also survived by his extended family of numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Lenz & Betz Funeral Home, 69 Otsego St., Canajoharie, with Rev. Zachary Labagh presiding. Burial will follow in the Fort Plain Cemetery. Calling hours were held Friday from 4 until 7 p.m. at the funeral home.
