  • National Guard announces soldier promotions

  • LATHAM — Major General Patrick Murphy announced the promotion of members of the New York Army National Guard in recognition of their capability for additional responsibility and leadership.
    Michael Bonacci of Frankfort, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry, was promoted to the rank of private first class.
    Austin Pecenak of Richfield Springs, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry, was promoted to the rank of private first class.
    Tyler McLean of Little Falls, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, 2-108th Infantry, was promoted to the rank of private.
    Samantha Ward of Dolgeville, serving with Headquarters and Headquarters Company, Combat Aviation Brigade, 42nd Infantry Division, was promoted to the rank of private.
    Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
    The promotions additionally recognize the best qualified soldiers and attract and retain the highest caliber citizen soldiers for a career in the New York Army National Guard.
