  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Mt. Markham beats unbeaten Morrisville-Eaton

  • SMITHFIELD, N.Y. — Mt. Markham dropped Friday’s first game on the road but won the next three and the Mustangs handed the Morrisville-Eaton Warriors their first loss of the season.
    The comeback gave Mt. Markham a 22-25, 25-18, 25-23, 25-23 victory over Section III’s reigning Class C-2 champion.
    Claire Ladlee had 10 kills, three blocks, one ace and one dig for Mt. Markham (11-2, 4-1 CSC-III); Hannah Barrett had 15 assists, one ace and one dig; Carryn Williams had four kills, two blocks and one dig; Brianna Wilcox had one kill and two digs; Kaleigh Bryce had 17 assists, two kills, one block, one ace and eight digs; Courtney Thompson had 10 kills and one block; Bridget Wilcox had 25 digs, nine kills and two aces; Olivia Thomson had 13 digs and one kill; and Megan Wool had four aces and 13 digs.
    Shelby Brown had 15 assists, 11 digs and one kill for Morrisville-Eaton (10-1, 3-1 CSC-III); Savannah Allen had 12 digs, five kills and three aces; Helen Judge had six kills, an ace and nine digs; Natalie Diable had three kills, an ace and two digs; Jenna Kent had 23 digs and one ace; Rachel Spring had three kills and two blocks; Sandy Clark had four aces, three assists and seven digs; and Cloe King had one kill and one dig.
    The Mustangs play at home Wednesday against Sauquoit Valley.

    ILION, N.Y. — The Central Valley Academy Thunder took two of Friday’s first three games but Adirondack won the last two, earning the Wildcats a 18-25, 25-23, 19-25, 25-23, 25-20 victory on the road.
    Nichole Sears had 11 kills, three aces and 10 digs for Adirondack (4-5, 3-2 CSC-I); Emily Coscomb had eight kills, two blocks, eight digs and an ace; Aliza Mathis had 20 assists, four kills, three aces and 4 digs; and Autumn Thayer had eight kills and two digs.
    Amanda Dahl had eight kills and eight blocks for Central Valley Academy (4-7, 2-5 CSC-I); Kacey Visser had five aces, five kills, three block, three assists and 15 digs; Megan Connor had 25 digs, seven kills, two blocks and two aces; Alicia Ceneviva had 19 assists, four aces and three digs; and Lynnsey Buckley had eight kills, two blocks, seven digs and an assist.
    Adirondack was a 2-0 junior varsity winner.
    Central Valley Academy plays at Clinton Tuesday.
