  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Herkimer gets past West Canada Valley

  • HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians broke a fourth-quarter tie Friday and defeated the West Canada Valley Indians 48-43.
    Maxine Grogan scored a season-high 20-points for the Magicians (5-8, 3-3 CSC-II) and was hurt late in the game pursuing a loose ball. Ashley Fahy subbed in for Grogan in the final two minutes and hit the first shot of a one-and-one that had been awarded to her injured teammate. Fahy added three more free throws to help Herkimer secure the victory.
    Chelsea Jory added 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocked shots for the Magicians. Lillie Williams scored six points, Hannah DeLude had six steals, six rebounds and four assists, and Fahy and Grogan each made three steals.
    Hayley Yager scored 17 points for the Indians (4-7, 1-5 CSC-II).
