  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Another overtime win for Hilltoppers

  • FORT PLAIN, N.Y. — The Fort Plain Hilltoppers held Canajoharie to a pair of free throws in the extra session Tuesday and defeated the Cougars 42-37 for their second consecutive overtime victory.
    Fort Plain also played overtime in Saturday’s one-point win against Notre Dame-Bishop Gibbons.
    Hilltopper Bri Florian, who later fouled out, and Abby Boyer had the only field goals in overtime after regulation play ended with the teams tied at 35. Haley Kilmartin added a pair of free throws for Fort Plain (8-3, 6-2 WAC North) and Boyer went 1-for-2 at the line.
    Cougars Jordyn Logan and Dainara Veeder each made one of two foul shots in overtime.
    Kilmartin led Fort Plain with 19 points while Boyer added 13.
    Lauren Balfe scored 10 points to lead Canajoharie (8-5, 7-2 WAC North). The Cougars shot 10-for-25 from the foul line and missed 13 free throws in regulation.
    Fort Plain plays at home Friday against Galway while Canajoharie travels to play at Saratoga Catholic.

    EDMESTON, N.Y. — The Richfield Springs Indians ran their winning streak to six games Tuesday with a 41-28 victory at Edmeston.
    The Indians trailed 10-5 after the opening period but limited Edmeston to seven points over the second and third quarters while taking an eight-point lead on the road.
    Rebecca Smith posted a double-double for Richfield Springs with 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kaity Richvalsky matched Smith’s 13 points and Vanessa Miller added eight.
    Chelsea Bressette scored 13 points to lead Edmeston’s Panthers.

    WEBB, N.Y. — The Dolgeville Blue Devils limited Old Forge to 10 points before halftime Tuesday and defeated the Eskimos 39-34.
    Page 2 of 2 - Dolgeville (4-7) hit a cold stretch of its own at the start of the second half. The Blue Devils scored just two points during the third quarter and maintained a lead of two entering the fourth.
    Emilie Lewandowski led the Blue Devils with 19 points and scored 15 of them on five three-point baskets. Jackie Fake and Jackie Bange each added six points.
    Madison Rice had a team-high nine points for Old Forge (3-7) and added nine rebounds and six assists. Emily Hoffman had six points, five steals and five rebounds, Mackenzie Kelly scored eight points, and Samantha Notley had seven points and four steals.
    Dolgeville plays at Frankfort-Schuyler Saturday afternoon.

    ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — The Northville Falcons scored six points in the first half Tuesday and rallied to beat the Wolves of Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville 46-38.
    The Falcons (4-6, 2-6 WAC North) trailed 22-6 at halftime but outscored the Wolves (0-12, 0-8 WAC North) 13-4 in the third quarter the scored 27 points in the fourth to pull out the win.
    Lyndsey Wadsworth scored 22 points for Northville. Charlotte Kalkbrenner added eight.
    Rylie Smith scored 13 of her team-leading 22 at the foul line for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville.
    The Wolves’ next game is Friday at Mayfield.
