  • POLAND, N.Y. — Foul trouble held Mark Hennings in check for the first half Saturday. Nothing seemed to slow him down in the second half.
Hennings scored 26 points — all in the second half — as the Poland Tornadoes avenged their only loss of the season and extended their winning streak to nine games with a 68-57 victory over the Little Falls Mounties.
Even without Hennings, the Tornadoes (9-1) led 36-23 at the break. Hennings got his first 14 points in the third quarter, including eight in the final two minutes after Little Falls had taken a 41-36 lead. The Tornadoes got the lead back on a steal and a layup by Cameron Tabor and Hennings beat the buzzer putting back his own miss for a 46-43 Poland lead entering the fourth quarter.
Poland had runs of eight and seven consecutive points during the final period.
Rahmere Green scored the first basket of the fourth quarter to draw the Mounties (8-2) within one point for the last time. Back-to-back fast-break baskets by Hennings started the Tornadoes’ 8-0 run. Mitchell Baumeister’s fifth and final three-pointer got Little Falls within five points at 56-51 but Tabor answered with a three of his own and he and Hennings followed with a pair of free throws each.
Ross Agen had 16 points and nine rebounds for Poland while Tabor and Dustin DuBrule each added 10 points and Bryce Wenzel grabbed 12 rebounds.
Baumeister led Little Falls with 24 points. Greene scored 14 points with 11 rebounds and Theo Wind had 10 points, seven assists and seven rebounds. Brian Ewanyk added seven points, all in the first half, and 11 rebounds.
