  • WRESTLING ROUNDUP: Unbeaten Mounties defeat Oneida

  • ONEIDA, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties remain unbeaten in duals following Wednesday’s 58-21 victory over the Oneida Indians.
    Taking advantage of five Oneida forfeits, the Mounties won four of the seven contested bouts and improved to 8-0 on the season.
    Andrew Messina, Sam Casler and Cole Fredericks recorded pins for Little Falls and Sean Rood scored a 10-0 major decision in his match.

    DOLGEVILLE 33
    DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. — The Whitesboro Warriors won Wednesday’s final two matches and scored a 39-33 win against Dolgeville’s Blue Devils.
    The teams were tied at 33 with just the 120- and 126-pound matches left on the card. Jeff Marraffa won a 5-2 decision against Noah Handy to give Whitesboro a three-point lead and Anthony Inman defeated Stephen Gross 6-4 to close out the meet.
    The Warriors also received three forfeits while forfeiting just one match themselves.
    Triston Engle and Kasey Foster had pins for Dolgeville which won six of the 11 contested bouts. Jonathan Handy scored a technical fall, Ian Nagle scored a major decision, and Seth Wilson and Justus Richardson won decisions. The wins by Handy and Richardson tied the score after Dolgeville’s three forfeits had given Whitesboro a 33-25 lead.

    COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians had pins in seven of 10 contested matches Wednesday and defeated Cooperstown 66-21.
    Cooperstown forfeited at four of the first five weights and Herkimer led 42-6 before the Hawkeyes earned their first win on the mat.
    Dan Appley, T.J. Philpotts and Steven Philpotts had pins in the first three contested bouts for Herkimer. Ryan Zawtocki, Collin Treen, Jacob Wheet and Alex Shepardson also had pins for the Magicians.
