  • MEN'S BASKETBALL: HCCC routs Redemption Christian Academy

  • HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer County Community College Generals wasted no time shaking off the rust from a three-week layoff when they defeated Troy’s Redemption Christian Academy 83-63 Tuesday.
    The Generals, inactive since their Dec. 14 victory at Onondaga Community College, scored 45 points in the first half and led by 25 at the intermission. They raced out to lead of 13-2 and 21-4 on the way to a 20-point victory on their home court. Herkimer’s largest lead before halftime was 38-9; the margin reached 35 points in the second half.
    Sophomore Jonathan Filer scored 32 points in the win. Wendall Williams added 17 points while Enson Garcia scored eight.
    Herkimer travels to Johnstown Thursday for a game at Fulton-Montgomery Community College. The Generals are home Saturday afternoon for a game against SUNY-Delhi.
