  • Star Trek actress Zoe Saldana is taking on another iconic role. The actress is set to play the lead role in NBC's upcoming four-hour miniseries Rosemary's Baby, the network announced Wednesday.
Saldana, 35, will play Rosemary, the young wife and would-be mother who moves with her husband into a Paris apartment that has a dark past. After she finally becomes pregnant, Rosemary starts to suspect that her husband and their mysterious neighbors have ulterior motives about the future of her child.
The best and worst TV reboots
Saldana is taking on the role made famous by Mia Farrow in the 1968 film directed by Roman Polanski. The movie was adapted from the 1967 best-selling novel by Ira Levin.
"Zoe has proven that she is one of our most gifted actresses, and we think she has the perfect combination of spirit and gravitas to take on the title role from Ira Levin's infamous novel," Quinn Taylor, NBC Entertainment's Executive Vice President, Movies, Miniseries and International Co-Productions, said in a statement. "With Zoe leading the cast under the direction of Agnieszka Holland, this reimagined event mini-series is off to a great start."
