  • DOLGEVILLE — Rotarian community spirit comes natural to the owners of The Cakery Cafe, one of Dolgeville Rotary’s newest members.
When Marsha Rider, Lynn Burkdorf and Char Nichols heard about Rotary’s involvement in the community and what Rotary stands for, they were eager to become part of the club. The ladies jumped in as participating sponsors of the first Christmas parade and tree lighting observed on Dec. 7 in Village. This coincided with The Cakery Cafe’s first year anniversary. The owners felt it was a great way to say thank you to the community for patronizing the bakery and making them feel welcome. The cakery handed out approximately 300 cookies to the community during the Christmas event and conducted a raffle which provided a $160 donation the local food pantry. The cakery won the best Christmas decorated business trophy.
Rotary President Carolyn Chavez said she was proud to see the new members jump right in and roll their sleeves up displaying their commitment in giving back to the community.
