  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Magicians win at West Canada Valley

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians finished strong Dec. 30 and defeated West Canada Valley 51-37.
    The Magicians led 25-20 at halftime and outscored the Indians by four points in the third quarter and five in the fourth.
    Chelsea Jory and Maxine Grogan shared the scoring lead for Herkimer with 14 points each. Hannah DeLude added nine points and Brianna Parks scored eight.
    Carissa Tasovac had 10 points and four steals to lead West Canada Valley. Morgan Lynch grabbed 15 rebounds and blocked four shots while scoring eight points. Haley Yager scored nine points.

    ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — Rylie Smith scored a season-high 22 points for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Dec. 30 but the Wolves were beaten 41-32 by the Saratoga Catholic Saints.
    The Wolves trailed by 10 points at halftime and outscored the Saints 20-19 in the second half.
    Emma VanDeCar led Saratoga Catholic with 13 points while Kaylie Fish scored 10.
