Most Americans share a common history that their families came to the United States for employment and opportunity not available in the home country. For many Americans, their ancestors overseas were comfortable middle class professionals who chose to accept less attractive employment in the United States simply to be here for the opportunities for a better lifestyle. Our ancestors survived sea voyages in steerage in miserable conditions and at low cost, with the comfort that jobs awaited at the docks.
Well, we now have 1.3 million Americans who are long term unemployed, and all we hear is that they remain unemployed because there are no opportunities for them. I also hear that there are endless jobs available in Bangladesh, China and Vietnam, and that all the containers bringing IPhones to the US are returning to Asia empty. So, I was just thinking….
