  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: Dolgeville wins Laidlaw pool in tie-breaker

  • CANASTOTA, N.Y. — The Dolgeville Blue Devils won their pool in a tie-breaker Friday at the Canastota’s Laidlaw Tournament.
    Dolgeville and Tully split head-to-head and both finished with 10-2 records in competition in the seven-team White Pool. The Blue Devils won two more points head-to-head and claimed its tie-breaker from the Black Knights.
    Canastota went 12-0 to win the Maroon Pool with Camden second at 9-3.
    White Pool most valuable player Taylor Brandow served 17 aces with 27 kills, four blocks and 13 digs for Dolgeville. Blue Devils Courtney Rachon and Mikey Rubas were picked for the tournament all-star team; Rubas had 15 aces, 15 kills, a block and 26 digs while Rachon had 34 assists, 12 kills, five aces and 21 digs. Other White Pool all-stars were Tully’s McKenzie Murphy and Hannah Leva, Whitesboro’s Madison Kosuda, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Samantha Kogut, Oneida’s Summer Lancette, and Chittenango’s Claire Charde.
    Emilie Bode put down 18 kills for Dolgeville with four blocks and nine digs; Kaylee Brandow had 11 aces, six kills, two assists and 18 digs; Abby Mosenthin had 13 kills, one block and five digs; Courtney Normoyle had eight aces, 22 assists, a kill and eight digs; Camila Rios had seven aces and eight digs; and Katie Millard had nine digs and an ace.
    Dolgeville is scheduled to play another tournament Friday in Watertown.
