  • BOYS' BASKETBALL: Adirondack wins big in tournament opener

  • BOONVILLE, N.Y. — The Adirondack Wildcats put up 50 points in the first half Thursday on the way to a 78-52 win over Dolgeville’s Blue Devils in Round 1 of the Adirondack Holiday Hoop Tournament.
    The Wildcats (4-3) scored 25 points in the first quarter and 25 more in the second. Elliot Hernandez and Ethan Wiedmer each had three of the team’s 12 three-pointers. Josh Nessel led the Wildcats with 20 points while Hernandez (17), Wiedmer (11) and Ryan Dellerba (10) all scored in double figures.
    Alex Johnson led the Blue Devils (0-6) with 16 points.
    The game set the matchups for Friday’s final round of the tournament, Dolgeville against Sauquoit Valley in the consolation game at 2 p.m. and Adirondack against Poland in the 6 p.m. championship.
