  • BOYS' BASKETBALL: Tornadoes win sixth game in a row

  • BOONVILLE, N.Y. — Mark Hennings topped 30 points for the second time this season and Poland ran its winning streak to six games with a 76-37 victory over the Sauquoit Valley Indians in the opening game of Adirondack’s Holiday Hoop Tournament.
    Hennings led Poland (6-1) with 33 points, one more than he scored against Oriskany earlier this month, and the Tornadoes, ranked 10th in the state in Class D, took control of Thursday’s game by outscoring the Class C Indians (1-5) 25-2 in the second quarter.
    The win sends Poland back to Boonville Friday for the 6 p.m. championship game against Adirondack, 78-52 winner over Dolgeville in Thursday's finale.
    Ross Agen scored 17 points in Thursday’s victory and Bryce Wenzel chipped in with seven.
    Ryan Griffith was the high scorer for Sauquoit Valley with nine points.
