  • BOYS' BASKETBALL: Klock scores 30; Wolves win Cutspec Tourney

  • ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y. — Sophomore Dylan Klock poured in a career-high 30 points Monday and led the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves to a 65-60 win over Middleburgh’s Knights in the Coach Cutspec Tournament championship game.
    Klock, named the tournament’s most valuable player, had six of the nine three-pointers for Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (4-4), which under the St. Johnsville and St. Johnsville/Oppenheim/Ephratah banners had won the tournament each of the previous two years.
    Schoharie defeated Dolgeville in the consolation game earlier in the day.
    The Wolves led Middleburgh by as many as 10 points late in the first half. The Knights got back within three points at the end of the third quarter and used a three-point shot at the buzzer to cut an eight-point margin to five.
    Johnny Vicciarelli scored 13 points for the Wolves and Andrew Hart had eight points and 10 rebounds; each earned a spot on the tournament’s all-star team.
    Tanner Van Allen scored 24 points for Middleburgh.
    Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville’s next game is Jan. 3 against Fort Plain.
