  • ST. JOHNSVILLE — Carmella E. (Keke) (Palombi) Manikas, 83, beloved wife of Peter Manikas, passed away peacefully on Friday December 20, 2013, at Bassett Healthcare, Cooperstown, NY with her loving family be her side.
    She was born July 13, 1930, in St. Johnsville, NY, the daughter of the late Joseph and Sadie (Cassell) Palombi and was a graduate of St. Johnsville High School.
    Her marriage to J. Peter Manikas took place on August 6, 1957 at St. Patrick’s Church in St. Johnsville by Reverend Burns.
    Carmella was last employed at Life Savers in Canajoharie, NY, until her retirement in 1989.
    With family as her top priority in her life, Carmella proved herself a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother.
    Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, J. Peter; two sons, Anthony Manikas, and wife, Reggie, of St. Johnsville, and Allan Manikas and wife, Melissa, of Springfield Center, NY; her cherished grandchildren, Kyle Manikas and wife, Melanie, of Fairfax Station, Virginia, Aaron Manikas and wife, Samantha, of Little Falls, Ryan Manikas and wife, Heather, of Altamont, NY and Jordan and Kaley Manikas, both of Springfield Center, NY; six loving great-grandchildren, Collin, Lucy, Anthony, Brayden, Brenna, and Cameron Manikas; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
    She was pre-deceased by three brothers, Louis, Anthony and Ralph Palombi and a sister, Amelia Logar.
    Funeral services will be held on Tuesday December 24, 2013 at 8:30 am from the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 20 Bridge St., St. Johnsville, NY 518-568-7040 and at 9:30 am from Holy Family Parish, Little Falls, NY with Reverend Thomas Lawless, pastor and Reverend Pascal Iannotti and Reverend Brad Milunski, co celebrating a Mass of Christian Burial. Burial will follow at St. Johnsville Cemetery. Friends and relatives may call at the funeral home on Monday December 23, 2013 from 4-7 pm. In Lieu of flowers please make all memorial contributions to S.A.V.A.C, P.O. Box 296, St. Johnsville, NY 13452 or St. Johnsville American Legion Post # 168, 38 W. Main St., St. Johnsville, NY 13452. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
