  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: Blue Devils knock off unbeaten Cooperstown

  • DOLGEVILLE, N.Y. — Two nights after a loss in Cooperstown, the Dolgeville Blue Devils turned the tables on the Hawkeyes and handed them their first loss of the season.
    The Blue Devils, beaten in five games on the road Wednesday, were 3-1 winners in the rematch at home, defeating the Hawkeyes 25-6, 25-22, 23-25, 26-24. The loss drops Cooperstown (6-1, 2-1 CSC-II) into a tie with Herkimer (4-2, 2-1 CSC-II) atop the Center State Conference’s Division II standings with Dolgeville (3-3, 2-2 CSC-II) close behind.
    Taylor Brandow had 10 kills, three aces and eight digs for Dolgeville; Kaylee Brandow served eight aces with 14 digs and a kill; Mikey Rubas had seven kills, five aces, nine digs and an assist; Courtney Rachon had 10 assists, four aces, four kills and 10 digs; Courtney Normoyle had 10 assists, a kill and four digs; Cheyanne Sullivan had two kills, a block and three digs; Emilie Bode had three kills and four digs; Annabelle Lee had two kills; Camila Rios had six digs and an ace; Abby Mosenthin had one kill; and Katie Millard had three digs.
    Brooke Liner had 10 kills and an assist for Cooperstown; Caroline Leonard had seven kills, a block and five aces; Kristen Ratliff had 13 assists, three kills and a block; and Katie Frank had 15 assists, three aces and two kills.
    The junior varsity Hawkeyes won their match in two games by scores of 25-23 and 25-18. Mercedes Rumrill had four assists, three digs and two aces for Dolgeville; Raquel Borst had six kills, three aces and five digs; Lindsey Coonradt had five aces and three digs; and Rachael Gross had three assists, three digs and two aces.

    FRANKFORT-SCHUYLER 0
    FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians moved into first-place tie in Division II of the Center State Conference Friday when they defeated Frankfort-Schuyler 3-0 on the road.
    The 25-14, 25-19, 25-19 win moved Herkimer even with Cooperstown which lost its match in Dolgeville Friday.
    Paige Klock served five aces with five digs for the Magicians (4-2, 2-1 CSC-II); Caitlin Roorda had 13 kills, eight digs and two aces; Jami Peters had 25 assists and a dig; and Natalie Schrader had five kills, two blocks, two aces, a dig an an assist.
    Brittney Janis had five kills, a block, an ace and six digs for Frankfort-Schuyler (2-3, 1-1 CSC-II); Alyssa Unsinn had four kills, two aces and five digs; Brianna Manzo had three assists, one ace and eight digs; and Taylor Rafun had three digs, one ace, one assist and one kill.
    Herkimer was a 2-0 winner in junior varsity play.

    CANASTOTA, N.Y. — Canastota swept its way to a 25-8, 25-5, 25-12 victory Friday against Central Valley Academy.
    Megan Connor had 10 digs and an assist for Central Valley Academy (3-3, 3-2 CSC-I); Alicia Ceneviva had three assists, a kill, an ace and four digs; Kacey Visser had two kills, a block, an assist and three digs; and Mackenzie Vitale had six digs and a kill.
    Page 2 of 2 - Grace Campbell had 12 kills, seven blocks and a dig for Canastota (5-0, 3-0 CSC-I); Josie Sgarlata served 10-for-10 with four kills and three digs; Maureen Krak served 12-for-13 with an ace and had 16 assists, two kills and three digs; Anna Maison served 8-for-8 with a pair of aces and a kill; Sophie Debrucque had seven assists and two digs; Emily Barrett had seven kills, three blocks, two aces and a dig; Nikki Knaul had two digs; Stephanie Seitz served 9-for-9 with two digs; Alex Jones had six kills and two digs; Brianne Wilcox served 7-for-7 with one kill; and Destiny Swanson had one assist.
    Canastota was a 2-0 junior varsity winner.
