  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: ODY beats Old Forge in league opener

  • WEBB, N.Y. The Owen D. Young Wildcats opened Division IV play in the Center State Conference Tuesday by beating Old Forge in five games on the road.
    The Wildcats won the first two games then pulled out the fifth after Old Forge had tied the match. They won by scores of 25-22, 25-19, 21-25, 17-25 and 25-19.
    Kristy Hammont had seven kills and two aces for Owen D. Young (2-2, 1-0 CSC-IV); Sara Manning had 13 kills and two assists; Elizabeth Hoke had nine assists, four aces and two kills; Marissa Zylinsky had three assists and one ace; and Serena Brown, Milleta Oldick and Elizabeth Valenta each had two kills.
    Shelby Egnaczyk had five aces, six kills and five digs for Old Forge (0-4, 0-2 CSC-IV); Nicole Redpath had four aces, one kill and seven assists; Kalyn Olney had three assists and one dig; and Lexi LaFountain had two aces, one kill and one dig.
