COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The undefeated Cooperstown Hawkeyes outlasted Dolgeville Wednesday and beat the Center State Conference’s reigning Division II champions in five games.
The Hawkeyes lost the second and third games on their home court but rallied to beat Dolgeville 25-21, 25-23, 19-25, 25-27, 26-24.
Caroline Leonard had 14 kills and five aces for Cooperstown (6-0, 2-0 CSC-II); Brooke Liner had 11 kills, one block, two aces and two assists; McKenna Hage had 12 kills, two blocks and three aces; Kristin Ratliff had 20 assists, three kills and one ace; and Katie Franck had 22 assists, four aces and three kills.
Taylor Brandow had 16 kills, one block and 13 digs for Dolgeville (2-3, 1-2 CSC-II); Mikey Rubas had 16 digs, four aces, four kills and one assist; Courtney Rachon had 12 assists, nine kills, three aces and 14 digs; Courtney Normoyle had 17 assists, 10 digs, five aces and one kill; Emilie Bode had 10 kills, three blocks and seven digs; Annabelle Lee had three blocks, two kills and one dig; Kaylee Brandow had 19 digs, five aces and one assist; Katie Millard had 14 digs; Abby Mosenthin had six kills, five digs and an assist; and Camila Rios had one dig.
Cooperstown was a 2-0 winner in junior varsity play. Raquel Borst had three aces and three kills for Dolgeville; Kacey Daley had three aces and one dig; and Emily Miller had seven digs.
The teams are scheduled to meet again Friday in Dolgeville.

WEST WINFIELD, N.Y. — The Mt. Markham Mustangs closed out the 2013 portion of their schedule with a three-game sweep of Waterville’s Indians Wednesday.
The Mustangs do not play again in December following the 25-15, 25-17, 25-17 win at home.
Bridget Wilcox had 19 digs, five kills, one block and three aces for Mt. Markham (5-2, 2-1 CSC-III); Carryn Williams had six kills, one block and two assists; Claire Ladlee had six kills, one block, two aces and one dig; Kaleigh Bryce had 12 assists, two kills, one block and one dig; Courtney Thompson had five kills and one block; Olivia Thomson had six digs, two kills and one ace; Hannah Barrett had six assists; and Megan Wool had four digs and one ace.
Miranda Stockbridge had four kills, one block and 10 digs for Waterville (3-3, 1-2 CSC-III); Jessica Scoones had 13 digs and one ace; Nichelle Kelly had eight digs, five assists, two aces and one block; and Ally Murray had five assists and one dig.
The junior varsity Mustangs were 2-1 winners in their match.
Mt. Markham next plays Jan. 6 at home against Little Falls.
