  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL: Central Valley beats Clinton in four games

  • ILION, N.Y. The Central Valley Academy Thunder closed Clinton out by winning the third and fourth games Thursday after splitting the first two.
    The 25-13, 23-25, 25-22, 25-20 victory was the third in four league matches for the Thunder.
    Mackenzie Vitale served seven aces with two digs and one assist for Central Valley Academy (3-2, 3-1 CSC-I); Lynnsey Buckley served six aces with three kills and three digs; Kacey Visser had eight kills, one block, three aces, one assist and one dig; Megan Connor had seven kills, 10 digs, one ace and one assist; and Alicia Ceneviva had 12 assists, two aces, one kill and three digs.
    Maggie Billiter had seven kills, five blocks and two aces for Clinton (1-7, 1-3 CSC-I); Morgan Cahill served six aces with two assists and one dig; Jordan Provost had five kills and two blocks; Rachel Evans had 13 assists and two digs; Mae Dinh served three aces; and Carley Sinclair had six digs.
    Clinton was a 2-0 winner in junior varsity play.
    The Thunder has canceled a Jan. 8 match against Frankfort-Schuyler and will next play Jan. 10 at Herkimer.
