  • HERKIMER, N.Y. — Liz Millea scored 24 of her 29 points before halftime Monday and led the Cooperstown Hawkeyes to a 63-43 win over Herkimer’s Magicians.
Millea scored 23 of Cooperstown’s first 29 points and the Hawkeyes (3-2, 1-1 CSC-II) led 32-20 at halftime. She also hit the rim with a long three-point shot as the halftime buzzer went off following a steal by teammate Maggie Hall.
Millea had Cooperstown’s first three baskets and scored six points during an 8-0 run in the first quarter. Herkimer (4-2, 2-1 CSC-II) tied the game at 10 and 12 on baskets by Chelsea Jory but Cooperstown scored the last three points of the first quarter and the first four of the second to go up 19-12. The Magicians got back within three points once before the Hawkeyes made another run and opened a 29-18 lead.
Cooperstown would outscore the Magicians, previously unbeaten in Division II of the Center State Conference, in each of the four quarters.

Hannah DeLude had 14 points and three assists for Herkimer while Jory had 13 points and six rebounds despite battling foul trouble.
