  • HERKIMER ó Eleanor J. Cirelli, 77, beloved wife of Peter Cirelli, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 12, 2013, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Utica, NY.
    She was born May 11, 1936, in Herkimer, NY, the daughter of the late Michael and Katherine (Boguski) Ochar, and was a graduate of Herkimer High School, class of 1953.
    Her marriage to Peter N. Cirelli took place on June 9, 1956, at St. Josephís Church in Herkimer by Reverend Novak.
    Eleanor was currently employed as the Office Manager for the Student Association at SUNY IT in Utica, NY, and she always had a special place in her heart for the students at the school. At one time, she was employed at the former MDS in Herkimer and the former Union Fork & Hoe in Frankfort.
    Mrs. Cirelli was a member of the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph in Herkimer.
    A woman devoted to her family, Eleanor proved herself a loving and caring wife, mother and grandmother. In her leisure time, she enjoyed spending time in Florida, Maine and at her sonís camp in the Berkshires. She also enjoyed playing cards with her family and friends.
    Survivors include her loving husband of 57 years, Peter; three sons, Peter M. Cirelli and wife, Christina, of Southbury, CT, Bryan A. Cirelli and wife, Christine, of Herkimer, and Anthony J. Cirelli and wife, Christine, of Rutland, VT; three grandchildren, Michael A. Cirelli, Mary Kate Cirelli and Sarah N. Cirelli; in-laws, Pauline Cesarini, of Frankfort, Frances Matthews, of Frankfort, Dolores Restante and husband, Mario, of Little Falls, Anthony Cirelli and wife, Elizabeth, of Herkimer, Nicholas Cirelli and wife, Dorothy, of Seattle, Washington, and Gloria MaComber, of Schuyler; several nieces, nephews and cousins; and her devoted canine companions, Jo Jo, Sandy and Shay.
    She was predeceased by four brothers, Stanley and Ziggy Cwalenski, and John and Peter Ochar; and two nieces, Barbara Spraker and Andrea Cirelli Hilsinger. Andrea was also Mrs. Cirelliís Goddaughter.
    Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the Vincent A. Enea Funeral Service, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, NY 866-1500. Friends and relatives may call at the Petykiewicz, Iocovozzi and Burns Funeral Home, 329 South Washington St., Herkimer, on Tuesday, December 17, 2013, from 5-8 p.m. Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, December 18, 2013, at 9:00 a.m. from the funeral home and at 9:30 a.m. from the Church of Sts. Anthony & Joseph, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend Thomas Lawless. Spring interment will take place in Calvary Cemetery, Herkimer, NY.
