  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Cooperstown wins 63-27

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — The Cooperstown Hawkeyes bounced back from Tuesday’s loss in Little Falls with a 63-27 win on the road over the West Canada Valley Indians.
    The Hawkeyes (3-2, 1-1 CSC-II) outscored the Indians (1-2, 0-1 CSC-II) 14-2 in the first quarter and 33-8 in the first half.
    Liz Millea scored 24 points to lead Cooperstown while S.J. Morosko added 13 and Maggie Hall scored eight.
    Carissa Tasovac had 12 points and 10 rebounds for West Canada Valley. Danielle VanName added nine points and two steals, Kristen Sportello had three steals and Morgan Lynch blocked two shots.
    West Canada Valley plays at Frankfort-Schuyler Monday while Cooperstown returns to Herkimer County for game at Herkimer.
