  • BOYS' BASKETBALL: Canajoharie beats 'Toppers by three

  • FORT PLAIN, N.Y. — Logan Sala scored 20 points Wednesday and led the Canajoharie Cougars to a 64-61 win over neighboring Fort Plain.
    Sala, playing for the first time this season, hit four three-pointers and helped the Cougars (2-1) hold the Hilltoppers off during a high-scoring fourth quarter. Canajoharie led 41-35 at the start of the final period and was outscored 26-23. The Hilltoppers (1-3) even tied the game at 50.
    Kiernan Briggs scored 19 points for Fort Plain and hit five of his team’s six three-point shots. Eric Orologio added 15 points and Aiden Van Loan scored 13.
    The Cougars got 14 points from Dillan Veeder and 13 from Josh Gonzalez in the win.
    Canajoharie is home Friday for a game against Saratoga Catholic. Fort Plain travels to Galway Friday.
