  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Magicians rout Blue Devils

  • HERKIMER, N.Y. — The Herkimer Magicians put up 19 points in the first quarter and 20 in the second Wednesday on the way to their third consecutive victory, a 59-40 win over Dolgeville’s Blue Devils.
    The Magicians (3-1, 1-0 CSC-II) led by 25 points in the fourth quarter and had three players score in double figures in their first home game of the season. Hannah DeLude led the Magicians with 19 points, and added four rebounds, four steals and three assists. Chelsea Jory added 12 points and seven rebounds and McKenzie Pine had 11 and seven. Maxine Grogan scored seven points and added five steals and four assists.
    Jackie Bange scored all eight of Dolgeville’s third-quarter points and led the Blue Devils (2-2, 0-2 CSC-II) with 16 in all. Emilie Lewandowski and Matina Mouyos each added eight points; Mouyos scored all eight of hers in the second quarter while Lewandowski had five in the fourth.
    Dolgeville plays on the road Monday against defending Center State Conference Division II champion Little Falls while Herkimer has a game at home against Cooperstown, Section III’s reigning Class C-1 champion.

    FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Little Falls Mounties were 56-46 winners in Wednesday’s unbeaten battle with Frankfort-Schuyler’s Maroon Knights.
    The Mounties (3-0, 2-0 CSC-II) led by 17 points after three quarters and held off a late run by the Maroon Knights (2-1, 1-1 CSC-II) who outscored them 17-10 down the stretch.
    Danielle Migliore scored a game-high 22 points for Frankfort-Schuyler and added six rebounds, two blocks and three assists. Kaitlyn Di’Flo scored 11 points, Gabriella Caruso grabbed seven rebounds and Alexis Bianchi blocked three shots.
    The Mounties spread their scoring around in the win. Kelli Shepardson and Amy Hart each scored 14 points while Gen Schoff and Hannah Becker had 13 each.
    Frankfort-Schuyler travels to Canastota for a noon game Saturday. Little Falls’ next game is Monday at home against Dolgeville.

    CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — Abby Boyer scored 26 points Wednesday in the Fort Plain Hilltoppers’ 50-41 win over the Canajoharie Cougars.
    The Cougars (3-2) took an 11-point lead in the opening period at home and held a 32-30 edge at the start of the last. Fort Plain (2-2) then outscored its hosts 20-9 over the final eight minutes.
    Haley Kilmartin scored 11 points for the Hilltoppers.
    Jenelle Dillenbeck and Dainara Veeder each scored 10 points to lead Canajoharie.
    Fort Plain plays at home Friday against Galway while Canajoharie plays on the road at Saratoga Catholic.
