  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Cherry Valley-Springfield wins Richfield Springs boosters' tournament

  • RICHFIELD SPRINGS, N.Y. — For the second year in a row, the Cherry Valley-Springfield Patriots defeated Richfield Springs’ Indians in the championship game at the Richfield Springs Sports Booster Club Tip-Off Tournament.
    The Patriots defeated the Indians 44-37 Saturday to earn their repeat.
    Maddie Archer and Jordan Loucks scored 16 and 15 points, respectively for Cherry Valley-Springfield. Lauren Loucks added 11.
    Becca Smith had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Richfield Springs and was selected as the tournament’s most valuable player.
    Archer and Lauren Loucks were picked for the tournament’s all-star team along with Richfield Springs’ Kaity Richvalsky and Edmeston’s Brianna Dunham and Kelsey Bressett.
    Edmeston defeated Sharon Springs 50-30 in the consolation game. Cherry Valley-Springfield also defeated Richfield Springs in the junior varsity championship game.
    The Indians’ next game is Friday against Worcester.

    RICHFIELD SPRINGS, N.Y. — The Edmeston Panthers picked up their first win of the season Saturday when they defeated Sharon Springs 50-30 in the consolation game at the sports booster club’s tip-off tournament in Richfield Springs.
    Brianne Dunham scored 15 points and Kelsey Bressett had 12 for the Panthers (1-2).
    Renee Handy scored 11 points to lead Sharon Springs (0-2).
