HERKIMER — Herkimer Diamond Mines owner Reneé Scialdo Shevat, Ed.D., unveiled a challenge grant of $25,000 recently in support of a new women’s imaging center at Bassett Medical Center.
Shevat announced the challenge on Nov. 15 at the Friends of Bassett Healthcare Network’s President’s Forum breakfast, where she said the gift also honors Michael Stein’s three decades of service to Bassett, most recently as vice president of fund development. Shevat challenged other Friends of Bassett board members to honor Stein in this way and support the women’s imaging project. The Friends’ board surpassed the $25,000 challenge, raising the bar to $50,000.
The funds will support a $1.5 million campaign to purchase advanced diagnostic imaging equipment and renovate current space to create a more private area for women’s diagnostic and preventive radiological services at Bassett.
Anyone interested in learning more or supporting the project may contact the Friends of Bassett at 607-547-3928.
