FORT PLAIN — Fort Plain Mayor Guy Barton will be honored on Saturday, Dec. 7, by the Friends of Fort Plain for his devotion to the village and his successful efforts on its behalf after the 2006 flooding of the Mohawk River and the June flash flood of Otsquago Creek.
The event will be part of the Fort Plain’s “Saturday Afternoon in Fort Plain’s Historic District” from 2 to 4 p.m.
Main Street and Canal Street shops and restaurants will be open for the occasion as well as the Fort Plain Free Library, a decorated Haslett Park, Unity Hall and the Fort Plain Museum.
Individuals will have an opportunity to talk with Barton in Diefendorf Hall where he will be presented with the second annual certificate of appreciation by the Friends of Fort Plain at 3 p.m.
Refreshments will be served.
