  • GIRLS' VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP: Westmoreland beats Little Falls in three games

  • LITTLE FALLS, N.Y. — The Westmoreland Bulldogs took three straight games on the road Wednesday and defeated Little Falls Mounties’ 25-20, 25-11, 25-13.
    Lauren Shepardson had two assists and served an ace for Little Falls (0-2); Kourtney Moser had three digs, a kill and an ace; Winter Polnak had four digs and a kill; Lindsey Tolman had three digs and a kill; Faith Randall had two digs and a kill; Kali Yerina had one kill; Carolyn Alford had three digs; Courtney Liddon had two digs; Samantha Ackerman, Brooke Walrath, Christina Deschene and Samantha Dewan each served one ace.
    Alison Brockway served seven aces with four kills, two blocks and four assists for Westmoreland (1-1); Des Champney had four aces, three kills and three digs; Chyenne Morris had three assists, two aces and two kills; and Gabby Duell had three aces and five digs.
    Little Falls’ junior varsity squad was a 25-12, 25-20 winner in its match. Taylor Giaquinto had eight kills, an ace, an assist and three digs for the Mounties; Casey Baumeister had seven assists and served three aces; Shelby Muller served two aces with three digs and a kill; Molly Bucenec had two kills, an ace and two digs; Rebecca Swart had three kills; Kaytlyn Slaboc had two assists; Olivia Davis had two digs; and Meghan Burleigh had one dig.
    Little Falls plays in Dolgeville’s holiday tournament Saturday.

    FRANKFORT, N.Y. — The Central Valley Academy Thunder emerged victorious in the three games Wednesday against Frankfort-Schuyler.
    The Thunder (1-1) defeated the Maroon Knights (0-1) by scores of 25-11, 25-21 and 25-23 on the road.
    Kacey Visser served five aces with five kills, five blocks, four digs and two assists for the Thunder; Lynnsey Buckley also served five aces had two kills and three digs; Alicia Ceneviva had 12 assists, three aces and two digs; Megan Connor had three kills, a block, two aces, two assists and three digs; and Cassandra Pagnotta had six kills, four aces and a dig.
    Brianna Manzo had seven assists, two aces, two kills and one dig for Frankfort-Schuyler; Brittney Janis had four kills, three digs and an ace; Jamie Juliano had four assists, four kills and four digs; Taylor Rafun had three kills, an ace and five digs; and Alyssa Unsinn had four digs, one ace and one block.
    Both teams play at home Friday, Frankfort-Schuyler against Holland Patent and Central Valley Academy against Herkimer.

    COOPERSTOWN, N.Y. — The Cooperstown Hawkeyes defeated Mt. Markham’s Mustangs 25-16, 25-23, 27-25 in three games Wednesday.
    Clare Ladlee had seven kills, a block and three digs for Mt. Markham (1-1); Bridget Wilcox had five kills, an ace, an assist and 14 digs; Courtney Thompson had six kills; and Hannah Barrett had three assists and an ace.
    Page 2 of 2 - Caroline Leonard had 12 kills for Cooperstown (2-0) and served one ace; McKenna Hage had eight kills, three blocks and two aces; Brooke Liner had five kills and two blocks; and Katie Franck had 22 assists and three kills.
    Mt. Markham plays Friday at Clinton. The Mustangs are entered in a tournament Saturday at South Lewis while Cooperstown will play in Dolgeville’s holiday tournament.
