HERKIMER — The Mohawk Valley branches of Adirondack Bank are conducting a food drive for December, in conjunction with the Herkimer County Hunger Coalition.
The banks are asking customers to donate a variety of food items, including canned vegetables, canned fruits, soups, pastas, macaroni and cheese and tuna fish.
“These are especially difficult times for local pantries and we felt, in the spirit of the season, compelled to do something to help them out,” said Robert Brenchley, regional president, in a news release. “Previous drives have been very successful thanks to the incredible generosity of our customers, and we believe that this one will be no different.”
Food boxes will be available at branches in Little Falls, Herkimer, Mohawk and Ilion.
“Bob and his employees have been loyal supporters of our efforts to work with the pantries in their battle to eradicate hunger in the county and have participated as sponsors in our Gram Lorraine Children's Christmas Program,” said R.J. Lenarcic, coalition founder, in a news release. “One of the words synonymous with Christmas is giving, and our Adirondack Bank family has epitomized that word by means of charitable contributions.”
