  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL ROUNDUP: Dolgeville defeats Westmoreland in opener

  • WESTMORELAND, N.Y. — The Dolgeville Blue Devils led 34-8 at halftime Monday on their way to a season-opening 52-26 win over the Westmoreland Bulldogs.
    The Blue Devils outscored the Bulldogs by 14 points in the first quarter and 12 in the second.
    Sophomore Emilie Lewandowski led Dolgeville with a game-high 16 points. Amanda Carpenter added 13 points and nine rebounds, Matina Mouyos had six and eight, and Jackie Bange scored eight points with team-highs of 10 rebounds and seven steals.
    Marina DeAngelo scored 10 points for Westmoreland.
    Dolgeville plays at home Thursday against Old Forge.

    SHERBURNE, N.Y. — Marauders Jordan Van Althuis and Savannah Irwin combined to score 33 points Monday in Sherburne-Earlville’s 70-33 win over the Sauquoit Valley Indians.
    Van Althuis scored 17 points while Irwin had four of the Marauders’ eight three-pointers and added 16 points. Lilly Berg chipped in with 14.
    Brianne Cardillo scored eight points to lead Sauquoit Valley.

    WATERVILLE, N.Y. — Waterville’s Indians scored only two points in the first quarter Monday but came back with a strong second half and defeated Clinton 39-36.
    Trailing 22-10 at halftime, the Indians outscored the Warriors 18-5 in the third quarter and took a one-point lead into the fourth.
    Hannah Gray scored 16 points and Alexis Decker had 11 for Waterville.
    Jasmin Knight led Clinton with 15 points.
