  • GIRLS' BASKETBALL: Canajoharie beats O-E-St. Johnsville in tourney play

  • CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — The Canajoharie Cougars limited Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville to six first-half points Friday and defeated the Wolves 57-21 in the first round of the Canajoharie Tip-Off Tournament.
    The Cougars meet Fonda-Fultonville in Saturday’s championship game. Fonda-Fultonville beat Canajoharie in the finals in 2011 (40-38) and 2012 (57-43). Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville’s opponent in the consolation game will be Galway, beaten 76-22 by Fonda-Fultonville in Friday’s earlier game.
    Canajoharie took an 11-2 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 28-6 at halftime against the Wolves.
    Alexis Kane scored a game-high 11 points to lead the Cougars. Ariannah and Jordyn Logan each added eight points and Dainara Veeder scored seven.
    Kirsten Raux and Jillian Perry led the Wolves with six points each.
