  • UTICA — A 27-year-old central New York man has admitted responsibility for the death of his 9-month-old son.
Oneida County District Attorney Scott McNamara tells local media outlets that Jevon Wameling pleaded guilty Wednesday to second-degree manslaughter, but the prosecutor didn’t release details about how Levon Wameling died.
Relatives reported the child missing and Wameling told police on June 11 he hadn’t seen the child since May 29. He initially said Levon disappeared after he had to crawl into a window to unlock a door at their home in Utica. He said he left the infant unattended briefly on the front porch.
Levon’s body was found Sept. 6 in the Mohawk River.
The father faces from 7 1/2 to 15 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Jan. 30.
