LITTLE FALLS — The Little Falls Historical Society’s book, “Towards Our Bicentennial,” is available in time for the holiday season.
What started out as a newspaper writing series commemorating the city’s 2011 bicentennial can now become a family keepsake.
Taken collectively, the book’s 54 articles and essays and numerous pictures weave a 142-page story of shared community memories. Some stories are about important historic events, others about athletic teams and others about neighborhood coming of age experiences.
The memories that emerge in the pages of the book would have been lost if an aging population of local authors had not put pen to paper for the original writing series.
“Towards Our Bicentennial” books will be available for $17, tax included, at the historical society museum from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 7, and Saturday, Dec. 21, and from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14, during Christmas in Little Falls. Books will also be on sale beginning Dec. 7 at the Community Co-op, at Gansevoort House Books and at The Mustard Seed.
They may also be purchased by contacting Louie Baum at 823-0620, Robin Prinzhorn at 663-8962 or Jeff Gressler at 823-2799.
