The Revolutionary Trails Council has announced the finalists for the General George Washington and the General Nicholas Herkimer Awards.
The awards will be presented at the Revolutionary Trails Council’s Leadership Dinner from 5:30 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 14, at Hotel Utica.
The finalists are as follows:
• For-profit finalists for the General George Washington Award are Adirondack Financial, of Utica, Caz Cans of Cazenovia and Utica First Insurance of Oriskany.
• Nonprofit finalists for the General Nicholas Herkimer Award are Central Association for the Blind and Visually Impaired of Utica, Clear Path for Veterans of Chittenango and Feed Our Vets Food Pantry of Utica.
To be selected for the awards, the businesses must have consistently displayed the core qualities of Scouting: citizenship and caring, leadership, self-sufficiency and the ability to overcome obstacles.
Also being recognized on Nov. 14 is Steven W. Barnes, who is being honored with the Distinguished Eagle Scout Award. A Chittenango native and a Managing Director at Bain Capital, Barnes achieved the rank of Eagle Scout in 1975 while a member of Troop 16 in Canastota. Barnes and his family have created a memorial fund in his late father’s memory to benefit Camp Kingsley, a resident camp for Scouts, located in Ava. To date, the fund has raised more than $35,000 to be used for capital improvements at the camp.
