The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble will perform at 3 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 17, at Holy Family Parish Church, 763 E. Main St., Little Falls.
The Mohawk Valley Center for the Arts will organize the concert.
The Syracuse University Brass Ensemble is a group of 35 professional-level brass and percussion musicians; members include Syracuse University faculty, staff and students, the State University of New York Upstate Medical University faculty and staff and accomplished musicians from upstate New York communities.
The SU Brass is a permanent ensemble-in-residence through the College of Arts and Sciences and Hendricks Chapel. SUBE performs about 16 concerts each year around Central New York. The ensemble has twice placed first nationally in the North American Brass Band Association Championship Festival.
The repertoire of the SU Brass includes music from all major musical periods and often features new compositions commissioned by nationally known composers. The ensemble has released CD and DVD recordings and has premiered several dozen new compositions and arrangements, most recently “In Praise of Science,” written for the SUBE by Pulitzer Prize winning composer Robert Ward.
Tickets will be available at the door. The suggested donation for the performance is $10 for adults and $2 for students.
