  • A search for a possibly suicidal man in Herkimer County was successful after several police agencies, including a bloodhound unit, got on his trail, according to the New York State Police.
Police responded to calls around 10:15 a.m. Sunday that a 48-year-old man, who police have not identified, wandered away from his town of Norway camp, leaving a note he was going to hurt himself.
Several police patrols, a helicopter and a bloodhound unit out of Troop D spent four hours in marshes when they found the man, cold but in good health at about 2 p.m., police said.
The man was taken to St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Utica for a mental health evaluation, police said.
