  • SCHOLASTIC FOOTBALL: Canastota tops Little Falls

  • CANASTOTA, N.Y. — Ryan Zophy ran for two touchdowns Friday in the Canastota’s Raiders’ 26-8 crossover win against Little Falls.
    The win snapped a four-game losing streak for the Raiders (3-5) who started the season 2-1.
    Neither team scored in the first quarter and Canastota led 6-0 at halftime on an 11-yard touchdown pass from Anthony Sicilia to Eric Klaister. Zophy’s first touchdown run gave the Raiders a 12-0 lead in the second half and a run by Matt Russitano made the score 18-8 through three quarters.
    Travis Dawley ran nine yards for the lone Little Falls touchdown in the third quarter; he also ran in the conversion for the Mounties (2-6).
    Rahmere Green led Little Falls with 28 rushing yards. Dawley ran for 31.
    The Mounties will play again Thursday at Utica’s D’Alessandro Stadium against Beaver River. Game time is 6 p.m.
