  • BOYS' SOCCER: Germantown knocks Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville out of playoffs

  • ST. JOHNSVILLE, N.Y.†ó Tyler Fuchs scored both goals for Germantown Thursday and the Clippers upset the Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville Wolves 2-1 in Section IIís Class D quarterfinals.
    The Wolves, seeded third, took a 1-0 lead on a Devan Battisti goal assisted by Andrew Hart 10 1/2 minutes into the match. Third seed Oppenheim-Ephratah-St. Johnsville (10-6-1) would outshoot the Clippers 24-12 but would not again hit the net.
    Fuchs tied the score with a goal in the 27th minute then broke the tie when he scored again with less than five minutes remaining in regulation play.
    Rowan Dubois had 16 saves for the Clippers while Nate Trumble countered with five for the Wolves.
    Germantown, seeded sixth among eight teams, travels to Queensbury Tuesday to play a semifinal match against Northville, the No. 2 seed. Northville advanced by shutting Hartford out 3-0 Thursday.
