  • Assemblyman Anthony Brindisi, D-Utica, is sponsoring legislation establishing the fourth Tuesday in June as New York’s primary election day for federal and state offices.
The measure would tie state law to a federal court decision setting the primary for all federal offices and save the state and local governments about $50 million.
“By making primary day the same for federal and state elections, we save county taxpayers tens of thousands of dollars and ensure that our distinguished military men and women, who are bravely serving our country overseas, can have their vote counted,” Brindisi said in a news release.
