The Town of Herkimer Republican Committee has endorsed its candidates for the general election on Nov. 5.
For legislative positions, the committee endorsed Martin Luppino for District 1, Tom Powers, for District 2 and incumbent Robert Schrader for District 3.
The committee has also endorsed incumbent John Richard for the town’s superintendent of highways position.
“The committee is proud to have a full slate of candidates who are interested in pursuing public office,” said Sylvia Rowan, committee chairwoman, in a news release.
Luppino is a newcomer to politics and has a background in law enforcement.
Powers has a background in engineering.
Schrader, who is unopposed, is running for his second term in office.
Richard has served his constituency for over 42 years.
“We certainly have well qualified candidates who are dedicated and hard-working individuals,” said Rowan. “We anticipate the Republicans in Herkimer will turn out in support of these outstanding candidates and all other endorsed candidates running in the county.”
