The 18 students from Little Falls High School and their advisors, Carolyn Wallace and Laurie Hennessy, began the year for National Honor Society on a positive note.
Alex Fox, Eric Stehnach, Mitchell Smith and Genevieve Schoff represented the Little Falls NHS chapter at the Sitrin Stars and Stripes Walk at SUNYIT to benefit American soldiers wounded in service on Oct. 5. With proceeds raised by the group, NHS donated over $200 to the cause.
With the year off to a good start, the Little Falls National Honor Society plans to continue to participate in previous events as well, including sponsoring families in the Gram Lorraine program, collecting donations for the Books for Kids program to benefit Benton Hall Academy students in grades K-2, the Heart Run and Walk at Utica College and their annual Martin E. Welpe Memorial Food Drive in the spring, according to a news release.
The group will be a part of the Breast Cancer Walk at the Masonic Home on Sunday, Oct. 20.
National Honor Society holds high standards of scholarship, service, leadership and character, and the current 18 members continue to prove their worth in the organization, according to the release. With the prospective yearly service project in the works, Little Falls NHS is headed for a year of success, according to the release.
