  • GIRLS' SOCCER ROUNDUP: Magicians blank Bulldogs

  • EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — Hannah DeLude scored twice in the second half Saturday and Chelsea Jory made a single save for Herkimer in the Magicians’ 3-0 shutout of the Westmoreland Bulldogs.
    DeLude assisted on Lillie Williams’ goal 23 minutes into the match and the Magicians (6-3-1) led the non-league match 1-0 at halftime. Ashley Fahy assisted on DeLude’s first goal 15 minutes into the second half and Megan Ball assisted when DeLude scored again 15 minutes later.
    Valerie Spencer made nine saves for the Bulldogs (0-12-0).
    The Magicians are home Monday for a match against Dolgeville.
    CENTRAL VALLEY ACADEMY 4
    VERNON-VERONA-SHERRILL 1
    MOHAWK, N.Y. — Teigha Ward found the back of the net three times Saturday and the Central Valley Academy Thunder defeated Vernon-Verona-Sherrill’s Red Devils 4-1.
    Nicole Doolen had an assist on each of the four Central Valley Academy goals. Sophie Miller scored for the Thunder (9-1-0) and Alicia Ceneviva made five saves in goal.
    Kate Regner scored for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill with an assist from Katie Musacchio. Emily DuVall made 10 saves.
    The Thunder is home again for Monday’s match against Adirondack.
    MT. MARKHAM 1
    HAMILTON 0
    HAMILTON, N.Y. — Heather Curtin’s goal in the second half gave the Mt. Markham Mustangs a 1-0 win over the Hamilton Emerald Knights.
    Michaela Carnegie made nine saves in the shutout for the Mustangs (5-5-2).
    Izzy Schaller made eight saves for Hamilton (4-5-0).
    The teams meet again Monday in West Winfield.
    REMSEN 5
    DOLGEVILLE 0
    REMSEN, N.Y. — Rams Joleen Marfone and Elisha Hamilton each scored two goals Saturday in Remsen’s 5-0 win over the Dolgeville Blue Devils.
    Cortney Taylor had a goal and an assist for Remsen (9-1-0). Brittany Waterbury had two assists and Taylor, Hamilton and Taylor Childers each had one. Nieka Scott (three) and Natalia DeGristina (two) combined to make five saves in the shutout.
    Katie Millard made 29 saves for Dolgeville (4-7-1).
    The Blue Devils are on the road Monday for a match against Herkimer.
    TROY-CATHOLIC CENTRAL 4
    CANAJOHARIE 1
    CANAJOHARIE, N.Y. — The Canajoharie Cougars led 1-0 Saturday but Troy’s undefeated Catholic Central Crusaders rallied to win 4-1.
    Catholic Central, ranked 10th in the state in Class C, got two goals each from Madison Purcell and Alexis Rifflebach in the second half. Purcell and Rifflebach also each assisted on one of the other’s goals.
    Jordyn Logan had scored midway through the first half with an assist from Jordan Hammons for the Cougars.
    Canajoharie plays Monday at Middleburgh.
