  • GIRLS' SWIMMING: West Canada Valley gets first win against Adirondack

  • NEWPORT, N.Y. — The West Canada Valley Indians edged Adirondack by two points Thursday and defeated the Wildcats 48-46 for their first aquatic win of the fall.
    Taryen Schultz and Cora Maxwell each won two individual events and Maxwell swam in two winning relays for the Indians. Schultz won the 200 and 500 freestyles and Maxwell won the 100 breaststroke and 200 individual medley. Maxwell and Schultz were both part of West Canada Valley’s 200 freestyle relay and Maxwell contributed to a 200 medley relay win.
    Jewelia Ritter, who was part of both winning West Canada Valley relays, contributed the other event win for the Indians in the 100 backstroke.
    Ritter in the backstroke and Maxwell in the breaststroke were the Indians’ individual event winners at Tuesday’s meet in Whitesboro, a meet West Canada Valley lost 85-73. West Canada Valley also won the freestyle relay Tuesday.
