EAST HERKIMER, N.Y. — Three goals in the latter half of the second half gave undefeated Poland a more comfortable margin Monday at the end of the Tornadoes’ 4-0 win over the Herkimer Magicians.
Poland (10-0-0) scored a goal in the first half and maintained a 1-0 lead until the 65th minute of play when Cameron Tabor scored the first of his two goals. Tabor scored again 2:21 later and assisted on the final Poland goal which was scored by Dustin DuBrule with 9:21 left to play.
Mark Hennings and Mike Pinto had assists on the goals scored by Tabor.
Ross Agen had scored in the 29th minute with an assist from DuBrule for the Tornadoes who remain the state’s second-ranked Class D team in the New York State Sportswriters Association poll.
Shortly before Tabor added to the Poland lead, goalkeeper Mitch Jones got his fingers on a shot by Zoltan Csoknyay and deprived Herkimer (3-6-1) of a potential tying goal.
Jones made two saves in the shutout.
