  • Kenneth L. "Kenny" Treen, age 44, of North Fourth Avenue, Ilion, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, while enjoying a day of hunting with his best friend and brother, Daniel, and nephew, Zachary.
    The family will receive relatives and friends at D.J. Enea Family Funeral and Cremation Care, 5860 state Route 5 (between Little Falls and Herkimer), on Saturday, Oct. 5, 2013, from 12 to 2 p.m. The funeral will commence at 2 p.m. on Saturday at D.J. Enea Family Funeral and Cremation Care, after which cremation will take place. Inurnment will take place at a later date.
    Kenny was born on March 14, 1969, in Ilion, son of Erin Dunckel, and was educated in Little Falls schools. He was joined in marriage with Diane Johnson on March 23, 1996, in the town of Danube, and has had a loving and cherished union of 17 years. The outdoors is where Kenny loved to be. He enjoyed, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and camping. Ken was also passionate about NASCAR, gun collecting, his Irish heritage and, most importantly, his family. When time allowed, he loved attending rock concerts. Ken will be sadly missed by his family and friends.
    Survivors include his loving family: his wife, Diane, of Ilion; his mom, Erin, of Ilion; his aunt and uncle, Pam and Pete Rose, of Little Falls; his uncle, Jeff Hopkins, of Arizona; his brother, Daniel Hopkins and wife, Debbie, of West Winfield; in-laws, Stephen Johnson and wife, Amy, of Mississippi, Douglas Johnson, of Utica, Kenneth Johnson, of Richmond, Va., Dennis Johnson and wife, Sybil, of Deerfield, Floyd Johnson and wife, Rachael, of Herkimer, Robert Johnson and wife, Barbara, of Oriskany, and Philip Johnson and wife, Renee, of Schuyler; his cousin, Susannah Rose; nieces and nephews, Vanessa, Zachary, Justin, Eric, Kevin, Michelle, Stephen, Kerri, Michael, Sarah, Amanda, Samantha, Brooke and Mya. He was preceded in death by his beloved maternal grandparents, Francis and Joan Hopkins; father-in-law, Floyd Johnson; mother-in-law, Louise Johnson; and sister-in-law, Barb Johnson.
    The family would like to thank all family members and friends for their support during this unexpected time. Kindly consider memorial offerings to the Herkimer County Humane Society; envelopes will be at the funeral home.
