  • CLINTON, N.Y. — Brandon Broccoli threw for one touchdown and ran for another Saturday while leading the Clinton Warriors to a 26-20 Class C East victory over the Mt. Markham Mustangs.
The win was the third in a row for Clinton (3-1, 2-1 C East), matching the Warriors’ total from last fall.
Clinton led 18-14 at halftime and added Broccoli’s one-yard plunge in the third quarter; the two-point conversion run in by Nick Smyers gave the Warriors a 12-point lead.
Mac Moquin’s touchdown run gave Clinton a 6-0 lead in the first quarter before Broccoli and Sam Olsen each threw a touchdown pass in the second quarter. Broccoli, a sophomore who quarterbacked the Warriors to their first win at Little Falls two weeks earlier, replaced Olsen after the senior left the game with an injury. Broccoli passed for 103 yards.
Eric Taylor-Holmes and Mike Tanzillo ran for touchdown in the second quarter for the Mustangs (0-4, 0-3 C East). Tyler Ostrander threw a scoring pass to Adam Rodick in the fourth.
Taylor-Holmes led Mt. Markham with 73 yards on 14 carries. Kyle Yager had 10 carries for 62 yards and Tanzillo had 12 for 51.
Mt. Markham plays on the road again Saturday at Little Falls.
