  • SCHOLASTIC FOOTBALL: Golden Knights defeat Mounties 46-12

  • HOLLAND PATENT, N.Y. — The Holland Patent Golden Knights rode a 26-point second quarter to a 46-12 victory Saturday over the Little Falls Mounties.
    The Golden Knights (2-2, 2-2 C East) led 20-0 at one point in the first half and 46-6 in the third quarter. Quarterback Cody Bliss threw for 161 yards and three second-quarter touchdowns; he also ran for a score. David Meola caught touchdown passes of 16 and 10 yards from Bliss and Devin Franco was on the receiving end of a 22-yarder.
    Bliss scored the game’s first touchdown from one yard out in the first quarter. Marc Grogan ran for 177 yards on nine carries; he and Franco both had one-yard touchdown runs.
    Little Falls (0-4, 0-4 East) got two touchdown runs from Travis Dawley, a one-yarder in the second quarter and a 19-yarder in the third. Junior Devin Dawley ran for a career-high 138 yards on 33 carries.
    Little Falls returns home Saturday for its next game against Mt. Markham.
